Open Graph is very popular, so if you do not have any other meta tags, most social networks will default to Open Graph. If there is no Open Graph meta tag, the default value is used if no meta tag exists.
Metadata tools do not require deep knowledge of HTML or other web technologies, so there is still a way to avoid getting your hands dirty.

Meta keywords are an example of a meta tag that does not make much sense to use these days. A few years ago, the meta keyword tag might have helped, but it is not anymore.
