HTML Meta Tags

HTML Meta Tags 2018 update

HTML Meta Tags 2018
HTML Meta tags for web pages 2018 the HTML Meta Tags A meta tag is an HTML tag that describes the content of a web page. A meta tag is a directive to the search engine that appears in the first few lines of an HTML page. Meta tags can affect how websites are treated. The meta tag is not visible in a web browser.
One of the most important meta tags for search engine optimization is meta description. We recommend including meta description tags in each HTML page. Meta tags for web pages can be viewed in the Internet Explorer browser in the Page / Source View menu.
Meta description tags [19659002] Following the page title, meta description tags are next important to SEO. This tag contains an information snippet that greatly affects the amount and quality of traffic your website receives. This is a marketing message to attract great visitors, but it can affect your ranking in Google Custom Search results. All search engines provide some support for meta descriptions.
Meta description tags are read by search engines and can Html meta tags appear on search engine results pages. The meta description appears on two lines immediately below the page title header of the search engine results (if the text can not be extracted to summarize the page). Without a description tag, the search engine will use the first few words visible on the page.
For example, if Google can not find enough text on your page to develop a product,
  • Meta Description Tags:
  1. You need to accurately summarize the main themes or content of your web pages.
  2. You need to expand the page title.
  3. Do not duplicate the title text.
  4. Each page should be different.
  5. ] You can include some targeted keywords, but they should be read well.
  6. Be concise, informative and attractive.
  7. Please keep the meta description tag as short as possible, within 160 characters.
  8. Make sure there are no truncated or wasted space in your search engine list.
  9. Since the audience has found the URL, we want you to be interested in the site with the title and description.
  10. Since average viewers do not take less than a second to flip through the description, you should encourage viewers to visit your website.
  • Meta Keyword Tags
No search. The engine currently uses the keyword meta tag (many were abused). MSN used Google to put a little weight on it, but Google never used it. But include meta keywords for your own benefit. Html meta tags keywords can be up to 160 characters long. If the keywords in the tag are not used throughout the webpage, it is meaningless.
Meta keyword tags are of great value to the copywriter when composing web pages. Your keywords should be well chosen and based on statistically proven web searches. A copy of the web page is created around the selected keywords to ensure that it repeats often. Once the target keywords and synonyms are inserted, each page should be easy and meaningful to the viewer.

Other meta tags

The three tags, Meta tags for web pages geo.position, geo.placename, and geo.region, indicate the location of the Web site. These tags will not be used by all search engines. Instead, use Google Places for Business, a free local service. The robots meta tag instructs the search engine not to index the page.

Using Html meta tags some basics & best practices

Metadata is often referred to as “data about data”, and one way that web pages perform is by using the <meta> tag. The contents of the meta tag generally describe information about an HTML page that can not be represented by other HTML tags. In addition, meta tags can be used to emulate HTTP response headers (such as redirects to other pages) and have properties such as http-equiv and charset. For more information, visit the Mozilla Developer Network.
Why is a meta tag important?
In the past, search engines indexed web pages based on titles, descriptions, and keywords using meta tags. If everyone in the perfect world used it fairly, it would have been helpful. However, certain websites have started to overuse popular keywords to get excessive search results. In recognition of this, Google ranked search algorithms in 2009 without using meta keywords or descriptions.
Description The meta tag does not affect your search engine ranking, but appears in search results. That is, if a person reads a description on a search results page before clicking a link, it indicates that the robot needs to write a meta description for people to read rather than searching. Good meta descriptions do not improve rankings, but they increase click-through rates from search pages to your website.

Meta tag description in search results

Another important thing to note is that not all search traffic is generated by Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Think of other people like Baidu doing millions of searches per day, weighting meta tags.
Usage for other meta tags
Other meta tags are defined by changing the name attribute to a valid value. The most commonly used meta tags are the tags used in the description.
<meta name = “description”
content = “General guidelines for using meta tags in HTML pages”>
For a blank description (or a nonexistent description), the search engine generates a description from the content of the page.

You can also use the meta tag to set the page creator.

<meta name = “author” content = “Shaumik Daityari”>
The charset attribute is used to specify the character encoding of the content. HTML pages can only have a single character set. Most webpages should use UTF-8 character encoding.
<meta charset = “UTF-8”>
More information on character encoding and character encoding selection can be found at W3C.
HTTP header replacement
As mentioned earlier, you can use meta tags to perform HTTP header operations such as redirects and refreshes.
<meta http-equiv = “Refresh” content = “5; url = http: //www.sitepoint.com/”>
The value of the content attribute indicates the time interval, in seconds, before the refresh is performed. The URL can be the same or different depending on whether you want to refresh the page or redirect it to a new page. You can also leave url blank to refresh the current page.
Unused usage
The use of meta tags has evolved over the years, and there are certain popular cases that should not be followed a few years ago today. For example :
<! – Do not use this! ->
<meta http-equiv = “Content-Type” content = “text / html; charset = UTF-8” />
This is a longer version of the common character encoding in XHTML. It is enough to reduce to the above mentioned contents.
The meta tag was also used to indicate copyright.
<! – Do not use this! ->
<meta name = “copyright” content = “SitePoint” />
You can improve this feature by providing a link tag that points to the copyright page (or anchor on the same page).
<link rel = “copyright” href = “copyright.html”>
Finally, many websites continue to use keyword values in the name attribute, but we do not consider them when displaying search ranking algorithms or search results. In fact, we have never considered keywords in our search algorithms.
<meta name = “keywords” content = “web, design, html, css, html5, development”>
We should not be concerned with keyword meta tags because this is unlikely to change in the future.
However Html meta tags pointed out earlier, Baidu’s Chinese search engine considers keyword meta tags to be a key element of the search algorithm. Therefore, if you expect a large percentage of your traffic to come from Chinese users, be sure to include keyword meta tags, but be careful not to use unnecessary and unethical keyword fills.
All of this does not drop the ranking of using these old methods, but it’s often best to add extra code to the page, so it’s best to avoid it and use a different method.
Use in social media (Open Graph, Twitter card, and Schema.org)
As the relevance of social networks continues to grow, meta tags have evolved. Facebook’s Open Graph allows you to specify how content is displayed in your timeline. This tag allows you to use statistics to see how data is shared on Facebook.
Using graphs on Facebook
<meta property = “og: title” content = “Best site”>
<meta property = “og: image” content = “link_to_image”>
<meta property = “og: description” content = “Description is here”>
For more information, see Facebook’s Open Graph documentation.
Like Open Graph, Twitter has a Twitter card (using name = “twitter: title” or name = “twitter: url”) and Google+ uses Schema.org (using itemscope and itemprop).
Open Graph is very popular, so if you do not have any other meta tags, most social networks will default to Open Graph. If there is no Open Graph meta tag, the default value is used if no meta tag exists.
Metadata tool
Metadata tools do not require deep knowledge of HTML or other web technologies, so there is still a way to avoid getting your hands dirty.
If you are using WordPress, there are many options for generating metadata when creating or editing posts. The most popular is WordPress SEO (Yoast). Joomla and Drupal have a set of meta-related plugins and modules. If you do not use either of these, you’ll always have the option to use the online meta tag generator.
Meta tags do not address all SEO and accessibility issues, but they play an important role in these areas. If you are the owner of a website, you can sign up for Google Webmaster Tools to monitor your website’s performance. You may be notified if there is a crawl error related to the misuse of the registered meta tag.
Tips and Notes
Note: The <meta> tag is always inside the <head> element.
Note: Metadata is always passed as name / value pairs.
Note: The content attribute MUST be defined if the name or http-equiv attribute is defined. You can not define content attributes unless either of these is defined.

Setting the viewport of HTML Meta Tags

HTML5 introduces a method that allows web designers to control the viewport via the <meta> tag. A viewport of HTML Meta Tags 2018 is an area that a user of a web page can see. It depends on your device and is smaller on your phone than on your computer screen.

Every web page should include the following <meta> viewport element:

<meta name = “viewport” content = “width = device-width, initial-scale = 1.0”>
The <meta> viewport element provides browser instructions on how to control the size and scale of the page. The width = device-width section sets the width of the page to the screen width of the device (depending on the device). The initial-scale = 1.0 portion sets the initial zoom level when the browser loads the page for the first time. Here is an example of the same web page with a viewport meta tag without a web page and a viewport meta tag:

Meta Tags  How Google Meta Tags Impact SEO

Html meta tags 2018
Meta Tags google Meta Tags Impact in SEO meta tag is a text snippet that describes the content of the page. The meta tag does not appear on the page itself, but only on the page’s code. We all know the tag of the blog culture and the meta tag is almost the same as the small content descriptor that tells the search engine the content of the web page.
The only difference between the visible tags (speaking on the blog post) and the invisible tags is the location. Meta tags exist in Html meta tags usually only on the “head” of the page, so they appear only on search engines (and people who know where to look). “Meta” is an abbreviation of “metadata”, the kind of data these tags provide – data about the data on the page.
Does meta tag help SEO?
Yes that’s right. But not all the time, not all the time. One of the goals of this page is to explain which meta tags can tell the word and which has passed. (See your meta tag below.)
To see whether a particular page uses a meta tag, right-click anywhere on the page and select “View Page Source.” A new tab will open in Chrome (in Firefox, this will be a pop-up window). The top or “head” part of the page is the part that can be a meta tag.
What is a meta tag? Learn it.
There are four main types of meta tags that are worth knowing. I’ll talk about it all here. Some are not as useful as before. Others are worth using regularly, and when you tell Google about your identity and the information you provide, your traffic is likely to increase. (There are four or more meta tags, but some are not common or related to web marketing.)
The four types discussed here are:
Meta Keywords Attribute – A set of keywords that you think is relevant to the page in question.
Title tag – The text that appears at the top of your browser. The search engine treats this text as the “title” of the page.
Meta Description Attribute – A short description of the page.
Meta Robots Attribute – Search engine crawlers (robots or “bots”) to do what they need to do with the page.
Meta Keyword Properties
Meta keywords are an example of a meta tag that does not make much sense to use these days. A few years ago, the meta keyword tag might have helped, but it is not anymore.
I went back to kindergarten and said that the teacher gave you a hard look and “If I can not stop using the crayon while I’m talking, I will leave them from you,” and you did not listen to your shock, You took him? It is sort of a thing Google did with meta keywords.
A few years ago, marketers who wanted pageviews inserted keywords into their code that were not relevant to their page to pirate traffic on popular pages, traffic on Lindsay Lohan, or trends. This is known as “keyword fills”. We ultimately decided to wisely deal with this issue and devalue the tool. Nowadays Google does not use meta keywords at all because it’s so easy to abuse.
Title tag
The title tag, on the other hand, is the most important of all the meta tags discussed here. These tags have a significant impact on search ranking and are the only tags that will be shown to the most important users of the tags discussed here. You can find it at the top of your browser (for organic search pages or PPC landing pages).
Meta Title Tag
This feature is especially useful when you want to provide only one primary title for a user on a page, but you want to clarify or simplify the information for users who are moving multiple tabs for SEO purposes and desktops.
Meta description attribute
This is a very useful meta tag. In short, search engines and (sometimes) searchers describe user pages. For example, say you search for the word ‘meta keyword.’ The following results may occur:
Meta Description Tags
Description tags do not always appear in Google search results (we frequently choose text snippets from the page itself). But it is also useful in other ways. We’ve also stated that the keywords in the meta description do not affect your ranking. However, you can use convincing meta description tags to get SERPs to click through to your site (especially if the description includes search keywords).
The reasons for Google are somewhat mysterious, but their actions speak out loud. Meta keywords are no longer important, but meta descriptions are the most obvious.
Meta Robot Properties
This property tells the search engine how to process the page.
index / noindex – Tells the engine whether to show the page in search results.
follow / nofollow – Tells the engine whether the link should be trusted and tracked.
